On September 18, 2026, the Council of Recognized Accrediting Commissions (C-RAC) submitted formal comments to the U.S. Department of Education regarding the proposed Accreditation, Innovation, and Modernization (AIM) regulations. In its comments, C-RAC expressed support for provisions intended to modernize accreditation, reduce unnecessary burden, and improve information available to students, while also requesting clarification in several areas that could affect institutions and accrediting agencies.
ACCJC remains actively engaged in monitoring the federal rulemaking process and coordinating with our regional and national partners. We will continue to keep member institutions informed as developments occur and additional information becomes available.
